Organisers say the club night will follow the structure of a Las Vegas strip club. Harpies will feature dancers of all genders and sexualities and will "allow all customer experiences", with women welcome to enjoy private dances without shame and gay men able to receive dances from other men. The primary focus at Harpies will be transgender strippers, with the aim being to "make radical social change by publicising the fact that wider society is attracted to trans people".
According to the advert posted on Eventbrite, "Harpies aims to kill the shame of being attracted to trans people, and encourage cis-society to be loud and proud of liking trans bodies". It's hoped the club, in Bethnal Green, will help take control of the fetishisation of trans people and will improve the relationships, safety and quality of life of the trans community. According to organisers, the club night will follow the structure of a Las Vegas strip club, where the club also works as a party destination.
